I posted this wheel idea a little while ago and I decided to go for it. I got the tires mounted today and threw them on the car. They are forged 18" x 5.5" aluminum blanks which I had machined to fit my axle. The tires are from Coker, 700x18" and measure 33" tall. I was shooting for tall and skinny. I think I achieved my goal! The front's should be here in a couple of weeks. They are 18" x 4.25" and will also run Coker rubber which should measure out to 29" tall and 4.3" wide at the tread. Right now the finish is just maroon scotch brite but I may end up sand-blasting them. I also plan on machining some small caps to fill the hole in the center of the wheels. Oh, and just in case you are wondering, I'm not done fitting that back pannel of the rpu body, it's just laying against the tires for now. Motor
I did recently post some more pics here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84014 The pictures are not the best. Thanks for the compliments everyone!!! Motor
ehhhhh... I don't really like the wheels... but... like kca said, that rear-crossmember is awesome... I like the rest of the car, and hey, who knows, maybe once it's all said and done, maybe they'll be just the ticket for the car, so I'll wait and see before I give my final vote... still, awesome car!!! ~Troy...
