Hey guys, I'm new here to the group. Just picked up a 53 Ford Customline last Friday, 239, 3 in the tree. Bought it from the original owner and it's gonna be a family cruiser and my wife's driver. I've got a 31 coupe and a 48 chev so now it's her turn. Just gotta teach her how to drive a 3 in the tree now. The car is solid, recently rebuilt flathead, drives like a dream. Plans include lowering it, dual exhaust, a 2x2 intake, dual exhaust with lake pipes, skirts and new wide whites. The rims will get blasted and painted.
Welcome to our Group! And here is the treasure trove of information I told you about:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=18186 Enjoy the ride!
Cool! I can already hear that flathead singin' through a set of Smithys while climbing through the gears!
Welcome from the panhandle of Texas. Nice looking ride, I wish I had started with one that clean and straight!
Took the advice of many others and went with the Aerostar coils and 3" blocks in the rear. Got u-bolts and finished up lowering the rear. The front isn't quite as low as I'd like but I think it looks way better now. Not bad, less than 200 bucks for the Aerostar springs, u-bolts, homemade lowering blocks and some paint for the rims. I've ordered a set of wide whites but will wait until the spring/summer to put them on. Next on the list for the wife is a set of lake pipes. __________________
