After being stuck on my model a for the last year I'm back to my 54. I'm hoping someone can direct me to an adapter for 223 to a C4 or if it will bolt up. Thanks

Try Bendtsen's transmission adapters. Mr Bendtsend makes adaptors for the the 223 that will work with the C-4, AOD, and TH350. Check www.transmissionadaptors.com.

With the gear ratio these Fords had in the 50's you really should go with an AOD a C4 is going to give you zero advantage for highway cruising, the 223 will be screaming at 70MPH,the overdrive will drop RPM's by 30% and save you at the gas pumps as a bonus which is a good way to recoup the cost of the adapter.
