1952-59 Ford fuel sender unit showing full when not

    i have just put a new fuel sender unit in my 55 victoria from dennis carpenter when hooked up it goes to full but its not full what could be the issue

    My new one sez it's 1/4 full then leaves me stuck on the side of the road out of gas. I should learn how to adjust it too. I hope mine was for 12v.

    You might try adding another ground wire from the sender to the frame,make sure the area is cleaned to bare metal it worked for me.

    When I changed over to 12 volts and rewired my 54 & 55 with (as I use in all my cars) a kit from EZ-Wiring I installed a ground wire from the sending unit all the way back to the gauge just to be sure I had a clean and direct ground. 54 has original gauge with a voltage drop. 55 has Auto-meter gauges fuel,water,oil,volts,trans temp,oil temp, and vac*** gauge. In 55 I used a sending unit made for a 56. My 2 cents

    shorten up the linkage on the float
