Hi Guys, Pretty far down the list of my projects is a 59 Galaxy 2 dr. h.t. It was my wife's grandfathers. The family sent it out to be restored (family friend), 10 years later they took it back in far worse condition, several thousand dollars poorer. They gave it to me, since I'm the car guy inlaw. My wife wants this one done so I've been collecting parts. Today I decided to put the 390/c6 in mainly to get it out of the way. This engine is from a 70's F250. Should be no problem, originally came with a 332 FE. (I don't have any of the 332 stuff) All that to say this, the oil filter (sticks straight out) hits the upper A frame before the mounts register. Even if it did fit you couldn't change it. So is there a more common oil filter mount(straight down would work great) or a shorter filter (much shorter)? Its a ph8a Fram (yeah, I know) I've put pics on my profile page and I'll add one above. I haven't quite mastered attaching pics yet on a social group. Most aftermarket performance suppliers have what you need. Jegs, Summit and Speedway to name just a few. Your problem is a common issue with transplants. Search remote filter adapters. Regards

If you use a standard Ford p***enger car oil filter adapter, which originally was on the 332, you will have no problem. They are on just about any FE p*** car motor. You can then run a M'Craft FL-1 oil filter or equivalent.
Thanks guys, I've done the aftermarket route before for a Roadster. Would prefer FoMoCo stuff. Yeah, one of the missing items was the 332. I'll do some more digging, Thanks again.

You don't need any of that aftermarket stuff or truck adapters. You need the original type, 90 deg filter adapter that came on the car. Ford used the same basic part on just about every p***enger Ford or Merc they made. You should be able to find one at the next swap meet for under $10. If they want alot of money for it, it's probably a CJ part with bigger internal p***ages, which you don't need.

Like street dreams has said , the right angle adapter is a genuine ford part and bolts direct to the engine. Sits the filter straight up and down. I know there is a NOS one at work on the shelf - but I'm in NZ ! Otherwise a PH16 is a short version of the spin on filter ( Yeah , I know it's a dirty Fram number!)
Short version of the Motorcraft FL1A is FL300. Long version is FL299. All 3 have the same thread and sealing surface.

If you can't find one or don't know what to look for, take DJS up on his offer. Your problem will be solved. You can also run an FL-1(A) filter with no problem. Forget the short one. If anything, go to the truck filter. Bigger and holds another 1/2 to 3/4 qt of oil.
