Right then, a real piece of UK Hot Rod history here, Lemon Squash, but what was it based on?

Looks like a Ford Consul MkII about 1959? What do I win? Stu

 

I agree, Consul, Zephyr or Zodiac (57-61?) The rear fenders gives it away...

Its Lemonsquash....during & after the restoration!! It was v6 powered & had normal doors, then it was found & restored & 302 (I seem to recall) powered, with suicide doors....

Trivia fact....I sold the rims for the front of it!!

I should have somewhere as a mate of mine owned it here in Swindon about 25yrs ago & then another mate owned about 5yrs after that!

Ok guys yeah Lemon Squash started off life as a Consul mk2 was originally V6 powered and yes the suicide doors were added after the restoration as was the 302.

Trivia: That car was the hook for Hamber PFF (Pete from Fleet/ Pete Dempsey) getting into the Rodding scene

More trivia: I nearly owned it 2 years ago, the owner wanted to swap it for Koppa.

 

Hey KoppaK (or anyone) any more photos of modified Mk2 Zephyr Zodiac or even consuls? I never had much luck finding any. I've got a 1959 Zephyr that i'm gonna start working on in the spring, nothing too crazy just wana get it back on the road for now but would like some ideas
