I am down to single digits for coming home from this deployment, and starting March 1st my Customline will begin its new life. Anyone living in the Oceanside or North San Diego area is welcome to come by and help. I'm sure you will teach me something if you do since I'm still an extreme novice at this working on cars thing.
Happy that you will be homeWish I was closer wheres your old ford at,what needs to be done got some pic, welcome home
First off Thank you for your service, I did several deployments myself, 80's & 90's. I live close byt I am a novice myself, so years of experiance I do not have. Maybe I could lend a hand.
It's got to be good heading back home. According to our group map there are a half dozen guys close to you. Check out the map, maybe send out a pm to those close to you. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=...485.00047f6e91a715e2230a3&start=0&num=200&z=2
Welcome home! I retired from the Navy in 2002 so I know what it's like to be counting down the days. If you get in before the 22nd, the Big 3's this weekend. I'll be down there all three days with the 55. I'm in La Mesa, (but I didn't see me on the location map). Be glad to help you on the wiring for sure.
@meknow63- Any helping hand is greatly appreciated. I'm sure you will know things that I don't. @Cl***icDoc- I wish it was in time for the Big3 but its the next week when I get home. Oh well maybe next year before we ship out again. @the-stig- Thanks I forgot about the map. Thanks to everyone for welcoming me home.
Just in case you are wondering what needs to get done, I have two plans and I could go either way at this point. First plan is to fabricate something that allows me to shift from the column shifter to the C6 because the header 3" collectors are causing the rod to not connect to the column shift anymore. Second plan is to just say screw driving it soon and tear the little girl apart and get ready for new floors, sand blast and powder coating on the frame, and sand blast and primer for the body. I'm not too sure I want to do that just yet since I did just redo the suspension and its been two years since I was able to drive the car down the street. The first plan doesn't cost as much money, and I don't know how to weld.
I made it back a few hours ago. Man is it great to be back in the states. The air is cleaner, and it just feels like a better place in general.
again ... welcome home. hope your flight was uneventful and boring as hell. when i came home from japan many yrs ago, we made an unscheduled stop in alaska because 4 marines didnt know what sit down and be quiet meant. it was peaceful after we, not they, left from alaska.
Welcome back, the Pomona auto swap meet is this Sunday March 3rd if you can make it. I will be there.
