I've seen a few options...but now would like some opinions. What is the best all around manual that shows me the ins and outs of "how to "tear down and specs of my 55 customline...and where is the best place to order it? Thanks!
You really need two manuals first is this one: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=2274 Best $12 you;ll spend on your Ford it has exploded views of the entire cars construction so you know what goes where and the part number for it,use Google to find the parts and the best prices. Then to tell you "How To" order this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-Ford-C...anuals_Literature&hash=item564bdf87e0&vxp=mtr The best part about the CD ROM's is you can print copies to take to the garage with you as you work.
Detroit Iron do digital workshop manuals on CD. You get a lot for your money including the Parts Manuals and Owners Manual with their Premium range. They used to use a weird viewer to read the manual probably to protect their copyright. The latest versions are PDF. These manuals will allow you to prints whole chapters or single pages for reference. I have been very happy with my manuals, though it is nicer when working on a vehicle to have the task in print in front of you. Check out http://www.detroitironis.com/ or http://www.detroitironis.com/Ford_CDs.html The 55 manual covers both the car and Thunderbird. You also get the Fordamatic manual with these. They are bit dearer than the printed repro manuals that you can get from most repro suppliers but are well worth the investment. If you don't go this route, Dave is right that the CD Rom of the Parts Manual is a good investment. I got my copy years ago from a gent who put it all on disk a long time ago. Regards
Thanks for the replies!! I am going to get these ordered up!! So much good information on thus site..I'm lovin it!
