I need 1 for a pattern, will buy a pair if have to, but must be cheap. It does not matter if steel or aluminum, dents ok but must have good mounting flanges
i have a pair of factory covers in the garage. postage is all i ask. 62010 is where they will be shipped from.
I had to go look up the article and that is pretty sweet. Are you going too an FE valve cover or a Y block one? I ask because I would like to put some Thunderbird valve covers on my windsor that is in my tbucket. I thought I seen a post some time back on the main board who made them but I can't find it now.
after thinking about this project, I figured out that if someone runs y-block valve covers on a 289/302/351w there is no place to add oil and would probably blow out their rear seal because of no vents in vavle covers. I guess that artical in Rod & Custom was writen for Trailer Queens. Or am I missing something
You could try and find an early 289 timing cover but that would open another can of worms for waterpump/pulleys etc.
I have Edelbrock cl***ic series VCs on mine and I didn't want to drill any holes in them, so I just use the reusable rubber/steel core gaskets. They're more expensinve, but that way you can just remove the valve covers to add oil. You could do the same with y-block reusable gaskets between the valve cover and adapter and it would be even easier since the y-block covers only have two bolts. The other option is you could add a moon style breather and just remove the top cap of that to fill the oil. You'd have to have a breather of some kind anyway.
