I know Aerostar springs are supposed to be a good way to lower a 54 Ford, but I've always considered first-hand experience to be much more valuable than mere talk.

So, I'd like to hear from any of yall who've actually used them.

    How's the ride quality?

How much did they actually lower your car?

I'm running new, stock springs in my car. It came with a V8...I replaced it with a 302/AOD and it's riding too high for my taste now. I need to get it down some...preferably without dropping big coin for dropped spindles.

Link did not work so do this: just put "aerostar springs" in the Search box and a ton of posts will come up some with before and after pictures, this has been one of the most popular topics.

I put Aerostar springs on my 53 Ford three years ago and they are great! It rides and steers better than new! I'd recommend them to everyone.

I put aerostar springs, Granada 1.5" drop spindles, disc brakes and sway bar. It drives & rides fantastic. I don't have as much play in my steering wheel. It dropped the front 4" and I love the look. You can look at my album to see the difference in look.

Has anyone measured the ride height right after the spring swap and then measured it again a few months later? I'm just curious how much the springs settle.

Thanks Jeff. The engine and trans (5.0 with AOD) are already installed. The car has the Granada spindles that were reamed just enough for the ball joint to slide through as well as the Aerostar springs so that has it sitting pretty low. The car has been on jack stands up until the other day and hasn't been driven yet. I can live with 1/2" - 3/4" more inches as that should put the lip of the wheel opening right at the top of the white wall. Anymore than that and I might be in trouble with ride height up front.

I bet it will settle that 1/2" - 3/4" after you install the rest of the front end and a little time on the road.

What size tires are you running?

My 56 dropped 2" and it has settled 1/4" in the last couple years since then.
