I few months ago I started a project to make adaptors to put Y block valve covers on a 289/302/351w. I now have a set to put on my car, my question is, is there any interest by other members for a set. The more sets I have made the cheaper they will be. I can send a pic of adaptors to all that are interested.

IM definitly in!!! Let us know price and availability!! I was going to run a set of FE covers with adaptors, but the guy that makes them on the main board keeps blowing me off. I would much Rather run yblock covers anyway!!

The T-Bird aluminum valve covers would really confuse folks, don't think an HEI would go along with the look.

I am thinking $70.00 a pair plus shipping and that includes special mounting screws and a pair of threaded rod stock for the studs. I will be loosing money on each pair unless I can sell 30 pair.

    Tom ,
Jeff sent me an email at home with the link to take a look at the adapters .
They look very well made and should work out just fine !
I have a question and please don't take me wrong about what I am asking or anything like that because you and anyone else can do whatever they want to their engine or car to personalize them the way you want to , but why do you want to make adapters for your sbf engine so you can put Y-block valve covers on it ?
OH I am sure I will get some slack for asking that question !
    Just curious to why ?

:confused:My opinion is it might be HAMB friendly in an offbeat way,no doubt we have all read posts on the main board about what is "traditional" and what is not.For some reason the Y-block that came out in Fords in '54 is considered to be "traditional" as is the SBC that came out in '55,when Ford brought out the first generation SBF the 221 which has evolved into the 260,289,302 and 351W we have seen folks on the main board say it is ugly :confused: and "untraditional" there is a huge post with pictures counteracting that silly idea.Americans seem to have a new found love for anything that promotes nostalgia this product will fill that nitche for some folks that love the Y-block.Jim,as an engine builder yourself you know first hand the difference in the cost of parts between SBF and Y-block parts is like night and day. Those of us that like a "Ford in a Ford" will feel a little better anyway;) at least it's not like the SBC valve covers with Ford script on them  I posted a link to a while back :D

Jeff, I couldnt have said it better myself!! I know my HEI doesnt really go with anything on my car, but I wanted something that i was familiar with, works well, parts are easy to get and something that was easy to install. I do catch some **** from other car guys for having an hei, but to each their own. It works well in my application. I have always loved the thought of changing things up a bit on my car. THings that make people take a second look and try to figure out what is different. The other reason I would love these adapters is that I have two perfect sets of yblock valve covers that would look pretty sweet!! As soon as there are enough people someone please let me know and i will place my ordere asap!!!

They definitly look sweet! So this may be a dumb observation, but to use these I would need a set of 302 valve cover gaskets, and then a set for a y block correct??

I use both sets of gaskets, but you might get by with a bead of silicone under adaptors

koolmercuryman, I may have a couple other here locally near me that might be interested in a set or two if you would be willing to make some. I will talk with them this weekend and see if they are serious or not.

Everybody does understand that some provision will need to be made to put oil in the engine and to attach the pcv valve?

Does the valve covers need to be removed to put oil in and what about the pcv.

If you cut holes in the valve covers and use grommets and the push in covers that Jeff has posted, then you can use a pcv valve and put oil in just like a small block Ford. IMO, just kinda defeats the whole deal of putting the y-block covers on if you modify them to look like the ones you just took off.
