I'm thinking about stepping up to 15" tires and wheels on my '59 and was wondering if A) anyone else is running 15's and B) what size? I'm planning to lower it as well so Im also concerned about rubbing. I really want to run Coker Cl***ic Wide Whites. Thanks for any info.
hey mate , like i said about my 59 i run 14" BUT I have run 15" in the past u should be fine with clearances up to 8" or even 9" on the rear , fronts u should stick with a standard offset up to 7" wide , or u may have to m***age the guard lip a little my 14" all reverse Supremes and they rub a little on full lock......
I've got 15"s on my 57 which I would think has no more clearance than your 59. I'm using 15"X7" with 4.25" backspace all around with 215/70 up front and 225/70 rear. I would have used 225 all around but the tire sidewall was too close to the upper A arm for comfort.
Thanks for the input. I think that I am going to step up to a set of 15's. After checking the diameters on Coker's website, I don't think that the 15's will be that much taller than the OEM 800-14's.
Ok, got a look at set of 15" Cokers at Billetproof this weekend and have decided to stick with the 14s. There were a couple '59 Edsels there and they were sporting 14's and they looked right. Now, I just need to decide how wide the white walls should be...
I have had my eye on a set of g78-14 Cokers - they have them in 2 1/4 and 3 1/4 white walls. Im thinking that 3 1/4's might be a bit much.
Check the diameter of the G78s, they're a bit short I think. Also, before you buy from Coker, join the alliance. You'll make up (or better) your alliance membership cost and you'll be helping the HAMB.
I have bben comparing the diameter of the G78-14s compared to the OEM 850-14s and they are pretty close. I had considered going with a set of 15's but they might be too tall. I want to go go with a fatter looking tire than the stock tall and skinny tires. I'm really trying to not put radials on it - I don't think they will look right. I'll have to look into the H.A.M.B Alliance. Thanks to everyone for your input.
