    Hi all!

I'm new to these boards, but have been a long time looker. Since I just took the plunge of purchasing my first cl***ic, I thought I'd finally join. It was an easy purchase too... from my grandad. A 1955 Crown Victoria. With a 272, auto, converted to 12volt, rebuilt engine etc. Overall nice amateur restoration in progress...

Here's the latest problem-- It just started leaking power steering like a waterfall. I noticed it's coming from the power steering pump and hoses. I don't know enough to start diagnosing the leak and repairing it myself. Also, I don't know any local reputable shops that I trust. So I feel kind of stuck. I can't make these major repairs on my own, and I don't know who to take it to. Aside from learning how to do it myself, does anyone have any recommendations?

Sorry if my post is out line, I'm still learning the ropes... I appreciate any feedback. Glad to be a part of the group!

Welcome from Fontucky. Good way to start with a cl***ic car, probably the most popular mid 50s car around.
Someone here will be able to help you with your ps leak.

When I got my 'bird, it had been leaking P.S. fluid since the sixties - everywhere was goo. When I tore into it, I found that (probably back in the sixties) someone had tried to tighten one of the fittings under the reservoir and the side of their open end wrench had "cammed" up a deep dent into the bottom of the can. I got a set of gaskets from a 'bird restoration outfit and tried to dismantle, straighten the bottom of the res and reseal. Slowed the weep but didn't work 100% - finally had to get another undented can.

The point is - leaks are not so easy to find (and fix) on the first whack. Be patient and systematic in ruling out the troubles.
