I am looking to start school soon at the School of Automotive Machinists in Houston, and I will be needing a job while I am down there. Can anybody help me out with getting set up down there? I was told that the school has agreement with an apartment complex nearby, and I will likely be living ther. But, I have never been to that area, so I was wondering if anybody could give me any pointers. I have 6 years in the Iowa Army Nat'l Guard, with 3 years of that being active duty, with the Dept. of Homeland Security. I went into the service immediatly following High School, so this will be my first college experience. I have large backround in Drag Racing, and have been doing it literally my entire life. I have built a few rides for myself, along with helping some of my buddies build stuff up, and my Dad and I have worked on MANY projects over the years. We have been campaigning a front-motor Top Fuel Dragster for the last few years, and I have been around blown nitro for abotu the last 10 years. I look forward to my move, and look forward to hopefully meeting some of you down there.

There are lots of HAMBERS in the area. I live just north of Houston in Conroe. Didn't figure out what type of job you are hunting, but I have several friends that are G.M.'s at Auto dealerships in the area. I could probably hook you up with one of them. I run a foundation company and would work you like a galley slave. You don't want to work for me. Long hours little pay. Seriously when you get in the area give me a call or pm me on the hamb and I;ll try and help you out. I can at least send you in the right direction. Good luck and welcome . Don't listen to all the hype about it's too hot and too much traffic. It's paradise when you can make a living. TP

Well, at this point, I'm not too picky on the job situation. I know I have to find something that would be flexible with my schooling. I don't mind working hard, but I do need to make a living. I have a Daughter to support that lives here in Iowa with her mom. I would really like to get into a job that could possibly tie into my future career. I will definilty be looking some of you up when I get down there.

Pm koolkat, he's a machinist here in houston and he might know someone looking for some help. The school is one exit outside loop 610. so you won't have to deal with too much traffic, you'll be inside the city.

Pm me with any questions, I used to work a block away from the school, So I know the neighborhood real well.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I gotta say, my little girl is big part of the reason for going to this school. It's gonna be hard not seeing her, but I know that in the end, I will be able to provide for her much better. I decided I do nto want be a security guard for the rest of my life. Sure, it pays the bills, but I know it's not for me. I would rather do what I love for a living, give her things I never had, and live comfortably. Not rich, I know, but not poor. Ah, I babbling. Anyway, I will look up koolkat. Looks like if everything comes together, I will be starting cl***es the first week of February. Just in time, because Iowa winters are no fun at all.
