i"m changing mine on my 54 using fenco m1485does anybody have part number for brake light switch that will work w/o too much modifications in for a penny, in for a pound
I have found the hydraulic switches to be very unreliable. I went with a Dodge pickup push switch on a home made bracket directly on the brake pedal. I looked at pictures in the parts book until I found the one I wanted.
Here is a discussion on switches:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=377106 I used the one shown in post #19 since it can easily be adjusted for pedal contact, here are some good pictures of one installed: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=8524
I used a piece of angle iron, had to cut out a section on the top for the upper brake pedal ***embly to p*** through and then I drilled a hole for the switch. I tack welded the iron to the brake pedal ***embly. I purchased a two prong switch that was adjustable, connected the wires and life was good. It took about 45 min. to complete. I have a picture in my album if interested. Every time I try and post a pix all that shows up is an X.
