Hello all. I have a few questions on the whole air ride set up. Has anyone put air ride under there vehicle without doing a c notch? I understand that you will need a c notch to go all the way to the ground but I would like to see how it looks without a c notch and if it would be low enough for me. Its already lowered on 2 inch blocks out back and 2 1/2 up front, but I would like to go a bit lower. Any input on this and anyone who maybe has pictures would be much appreciated.

I also would like some input on this. Would love for my car to be lower, but retain the nice driveablility it has now. Im sure airride would be the best way to go without clipping the front end. I dont care if it is on the ground or not, just as close as the current frame and suspension will let it go.

How low are you wanting to go, my front bumper is 11 inches off the ground and my rear is 12 inches, any lower and I'm bottoming out. Baggs, looked for your car at Back To the 50s, never found it, two days of looking but no luck.

Its not so much how low I can go with driving, more along the lines of parking and when at local car shows. I am as well just shy of a foot with driving the set up I have now. Its a lot lower from where I started.

    whitenred,
The car was only there on Friday from about 5am to about 3pm. Didnt go out any other days. The weather man scared me with his forecast. Im not scared of rain at all, but the weatherstrips that "were" in the car were so bad and crusty they leaked really bad. Since the show I have installed new weatherstrips so no more leaks! I had the interior done about three weeks ago and that friday the carpet go soaked so I wanted to avoid any more water in the car! I will be down in Des Moines this weeked for good guys. Im with 55fordcust, Im not looking to get it any lower while driving, just parked at shows and slow cruising around shows.

Baggs, I didn't take mine either, it was pouring in Wis. when we left Thurs. morning, and with the big evening storms, glad I left it home. I've thought of the bag route, but I'm getting to lazy in my old age.

Baggs, that is exactly what I want as well. I honestly dont want to channel the middle of the car to except the drive shaft and all that, just have a nice apperance when at a show

My 55 Sedan (4 door!) is on airbags in the rear. 4 link suspension as well (no leaf springs anymore).

I'll take a few pics later today when I'm back in the shop (replacing rocker panels this week).

I will say this, bags on a 55 are NOT simple. The previous owner did most of the work, however it's low budget with manual pneumatic switches and no controller. I'm revising it with air shocks in the front as well and adding a controller with height and pressure sensors so it is actually safe to drive.

I know this isnt a simple task, but i figure since the wonderful winters we encounter here in ohio i should have enough time to get it done. Im going to pull the body this year and theroretically would like to get the four link done and bag mounts with the bags in place. hopefully have everything in place by spring and ready to go back together. seeing these cars done up around my part of town is rare so i would like to be one the ones around me to do it.
