    I tried searching previous threads trying to find a way to resolve my problem.

    I have a 1953 Customline that has been completely rewired and converted to 12 volts. We have installed a 5.0 Mustang engine and transmission with it's sending units. I have put 3 inline voltage reducers to each gauge off of the ignition wire. I am reading a steady 6.4 volts feeding the gauges and under the hood at the different sending units.

    The Water Temperature gauge reads:
    Off = H+
    Sensor = H+
    Disconnected = H+
    Grounded = C

    The Oil Pressure gauge reads:
    Off = 0
    Sensor = 80+
    Disconnected = 0
    Grounded = 80+

    I have borrowed an extra set of gauges from another member and they read exactly the same. Both sets of gauges have the cardboard insulators on them. I have changed the polarity of gauges and grounded the gauge cluster, but nothing has made a difference.

    The only thing my mechanical expert and I can think off is trying to find 6 volt sending units that fit a 5.0 motor. We don't know if it makes a difference.

    We have not tried the fuel gauge yet. The car isn't quite road worthy yet and only has minimal gas in the tank.

    Any ideas from the all knowing other members? Any help is appreciated.

    Where do I find original sending units that fit a modern 5.0 motor?

    Has anyone done this? I'm sure I'm not the first.
