To replace the stainless trim around the windshield of a 55, do you have to remove the windshield? Or can the trim be replace with the gl*** in place?

    Thanks in advance

You must remove the windshield to change the mouldings. The moulding has a "finger" which fits into a channel in the rubber that you can't see when the gl*** and stainless are installed. You will be unable to release that "finger" with the gl*** installed. Alan S. Freeman

So order the replacement rubber seal first, the windshield, seal and stainless are installed as a unit.

Be sure you find an old experienced guy to do this for you. A lot of people will go ahead and ruin your trim and say, Oh well, - - - - - -

Carpenter as of late has been outsourcing, you will find issues on the web being posted about fit issues and quality of rubber products. The new vent rubbers on my '54 fell apart in only 6 months I highly suggest you use this company 100% USA made: http://www.steelerubber.com/ A large percentage of Ford aftermarket suppliers have contracts with Carpenter as a supplier, ask before you order.
