hi has anyone done a motor swap with a 350 chevy motor in a 55 ford customline.if so where can I get mounts
It is a nasty job but can be done,54-59 Fords use a front sump oil pan Chevys are rear sump,Chevy oil filter is on the drivers side rear right next to the Ford's steering box,Chevy is 80lbs heavier than a SBF and wider. Here is the kit you need, read the text:http://www.butchscoolstuff.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=19 A 302-351 Ford can be installed with no welding, stock motor mounts and trans mount from your local parts store for about $55 and you can even get headers to fit with no alterations.
where are you located? If you are close enough and you are removing a Y block from the Mainline, I would be interested... danaxjessup@yahoo.com
I have in the past when I was younger. Since then, having made a conscious effort to clarify my life and live a righteous path, I would never consider the blasphemy of a SBC in any Ford product.
SBC in a Ford is almost as traditional as putting a flathead into one. If it keeps the car from being crushed personally who cares even a if a SBC is used. Most of us are not ''restorers'' or we wouldn't be on this site.
its not for me a buddy of mine wants to do it. I have a 302 in mine and it was a easy swap thanks to all the members that commented on this thred
Zap, flatheads came in most '53-'32 Fords. You didn't have to install one, just find a V8 car. I'm not strictly a restorer, having done plenty of rods and customs over 40+ years. My opinion is that you can save one from getting crushed just as easy by installing a SBF or another type Ford engine.
Did you ever think about a slant 6 instead? It is just as stupid an idea, but it has twice the character!
