I'm pretty sure that's actually a '53, judging by the vent wings being pot metal. If they were stainless, I'd buy the whole darn car.
Only the first 3 months of the '52 Ford/ Mercury production year used the stainless vent window frames. For the rest of '52 and through '54 they were pot metal. Therefore, it is not unusual to see a '52 with the pot metal ones. When this car was first advertised on the Main Board a couple of weeks ago, I inquired about the vent window frames and determined that they were the pot metal ones. I have been lucky enough to find the stainless ones for my two '54 Fords and my '54 Mercury. The do look much better than the pot metal ones. Alan S. Freeman
Always keep learning about these old Fords'' Lucky mine has Stainless I just figured that was the norm...
Gotta love the constantly running changes in this body style. Didn't even look at the back gl***, another thing that didn't last the entire production year.
So is it just the piece of trim that is in front of the vent window you guys are talking about? I will have to look at mine now to see if it's stainless or not. I think mine is stainless(remote mirror hole goes thru it, and I'm pretty sure it is).
These bad boys. This is a screen shot of an ebay listing I was watching when I stumbled into mine. Was planning on pulling the trigger too, they're my second favorite piece of trim from these cars.
