    Hello,

I search pertronix ignitor system but I don't find the good one for my 54 (inline 6). I looked at Macs Antique and they ask to check the inside of the distributor. The top of the distributor shaft looks solid & with "D" shaped. Macs tell to take this reference 12127-1266 but it's only for 6V.

So I search 12V pertronix ignitor for my in line 6. It exist ?

    Thanks,

    Rémi

Since you converted to 12 volt and your present '54 distributor is a Load-O-Matic I would not waste your money on a Pertronix I would keep your points and go with this:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-5520/overview/ This will take the load off the points and they will last much longer, the multi-spark feature will up your gas mileage which is a good thing. These early Ford 223's with Load-O-Matic mean the distributor and factory Carb have to stay together to play nice.If later you decide to upgrade the intake and Carb and go to a later model distributor this will still work very well. You will want a good set of plug wires to seal the deal http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tay-50045/overview/

  3. Jeff, do you have more info on this? I'm going to be restoring the wifes 55 wagon and it has a 223 I6. converted to 12V. I really haven't messed with anything yet but i'll be pulling the motor to fresh it up a bit and as of last month it's not starting anymore which could be either the carb or the distributor so I'm going to redo the entire ignition system

  5. i cross referenced Mac's distributor for the 223 which they want $130 to advance auto which is $43 like the one you had the link to. I buy what i can from advance because i use the coupon codes and save a lot of money.

Pertronix makes a 6V, Ford 6 cylinder unit. Put one on a '51 Ford flathead six, worked fine. Talk to Pertronix directly.

  7. we both have converted to 12V. I'm still on the fence about pertronix. seems like there's more bad reviews than positive. But it seems like a really cool upgrade
