I see both wetskier2000 and doughboy's threads both got shut down on the main board....no idea why, I suppose the modern parts. Dirty rotten shame. I hope both you guys will consider continuing your threads in this group. They were both too good to lose track of...
I saw a post on wetskier2000,s thread by Ryan that said it was getting too far from traditional. I'm beginning to think this whole site is going to be in the toilet and I just don't get Ryans reasoning! You would think he would want good quality build threads on his sight.
I'm guessing Ryan wants to keep things period correct? Doesn't like bags, automatics, ifs, disc brakes, EFI, and so on.
I really worry about the COE picture thread, 220 pages with a ton of good pictures and info and it isn't all perfectly traditional. If that gets flushed, I probably won't stick around, because I just ain't interested in a Deuce roadster with a flathead, been done to death. IMHO
I sure hope they both roll on over here too. Trying not to make too much noise about it, because I too was learning a ton from both of the build threads.
So far it seems like he has been leaving the groups alone and just focusing on the main forum. If you say something he just bans you from what I have read in some of the other threads. Now I don't want to see new cars in this forum but if it is a 47 Coe I don't think a thread should be deleted because someone doesn't like the wheels on it because they are to new.
I'm not happy about those two threads being closed either, but I COMPLETELY understand why. Guys, this site is about "traditional hot rods". Doing a frame swap (Merc on a Caprice ch***is, anything on a S10 ch***is, Camaro clips, and old COE cab on a late model RV ch***is) is NOT what this site is about. Don't hate on Ryan and the mods for t******* the hedges, they've tolerated the OT stuff for a long time and things have gotten way too far from the intended direction of the group. We all knew the purpose of the site when we joined. That said, I'm very sad that these were closed. Both were AMAZING threads with INCREDIBLE craftsmanship and workmanship! I really hope both members continue their build threads here in the COE group. Please PM them and ask them to. I know wetskier is a regular contributor to this social group but I don't believe I've ever seen doughboy post here. If anyone doesn't understand that a late model RV ch***is under a COE cab isn't traditional hot rodding then you may be in the wrong place. I'm not trash talking it, as my '54 Chevy will be on a one ton GM dually ch***is with a ***mins and automatic behind the cab, front disc brakes, power steering and AC. Still, I know that it doesn't belong on the main board. These social groups, however, are a haven for us.
I in no way intended this thread to be a bash the mods deal. Just hoping those guys will post their work here instead. And yes, my COE build is here instead of the main board because it is OT. BTW, watch for updates soon...
Scott, that was clear to me but others don't seem to share our viewpoint. I wasn't calling you out, just wanted to slow the roll before anything got out of hand. Hopefully you caught that.
Just would like to say thanks for all the support that we received on the build from the folks that were following us. I was trying to keep my thread as traditional and within the rules as much as possible. I just need to have some newer technology in the frame and running gear to accommodate the needs for the truck to be reliable and safe on the road. My goal is to still have people think it was custom built in the late 40's or early 50's from the outside. That being said I understand why the thread was closed and have no hard feeling to anyone on the HAMB. This is a great place to get all kind of ideas and technical advice. I spent many a day and night here before I started my build and got a lot of my inspiration from this site. This was one of my motivation to start my build thread here. All I wanted was to help out the next guy or gal who was looking for insight or information. I will still use the HAMB to get my fix and keep up on the builds. I thought long and hard about moving my build here, but decided to move it to my own blog page. This way I won't over step my boundaries of this site. I hope the ones that where following the thread or people that are interested in the build will visit. doughboy1947.blogspot.com Thank you again for Support.
Dough Boy, Thanks for the link! I certainly do want to follow your build, it is a quality build and should be do***ented, even if it doesn't fit the criteria of this forum. My build, like yours doesn't quite fit, so I hesitate to start a build thread here.
Dough Boy checked out your site, that's the way to go!!! Awesome blog, will keep following your build for sure. Best of luck.
I'm so glad you're continuing the build where we can still watch, thank you Dough Boy! These groups aren't monitored by the ***igned admins, but by the individuals who started them. So as long as the person who started the group doesn't take issue with your build it will stay. I don't know who started this group though. There are many pages for OT groups here, including prayer groups which I think is great. They don't belong on the main board but are welcome in social groups. I do think, however, that if someone started a "rat rods rule" group or a "Ryan is a poop head" group those might inexplicably disappear. And justifiably so.
DOUGHBOY...just visited your blog, so cool. IMO your build was traditional styling with exceptional fabrication. WOLFCREEK - One of theses days you will need to post something of your build to prove to me you actually have a COE...HA!!!!!!!
Glad to see Dough Boy has a place we can follow his build! I look forward to these updates! So i'm a little confused ...Is there a spot on this site where we can post our COE build and not get deleted if we do items to our COE that others are getting deleted for? I hope to get started on mine and post.
These social groups are supposed to be the place to discuss, socialize and post about our OT stuff, That is why they are here. So post away!!!!!! To my knowledge, the moderators stay out of these groups unless something is reported?
I'll gladly show what I'm doing, but I can't figure out how to post pictures in the social groups. I don't want to upload pictures to a host and link. I do have some pictures in an album on my profile page, can I get them over here to a build thread?
Go to your own album open the picture you want to post right click your mouse on the picture left mouse click on "copy image URL" When posting a picture in the social group, left click on the little symbol showing a mountain, when you hover your mouse over it, it will say "insert image" right click on your mouse and "paste" left click "ok" your image will magically appear in your post. We will all be expecting a build thread with in depth comments in the near future
Well, MR Dawg, I am working on it. Got a plan to extend one bay of my shop this weekend so I can get the Cube ch***is inside and finish stripping it. This weather ****s for working outside. Not all of us have the garage-ma-hall like you. After I get her in the shop I will start a thread for the "COE Lumber Wagon"
Wolfcreek...I'll believe you are making progress on it when I smell BBQ coming off that large smoker/grill on the back. (grin!!!)
Those are the Ebay pictures, not my grille! Now that B-bops got a thread up I better get my **** in gear!
