Have you replaced your '52, '53, or '54 Ford gas tank with either a domestic or foreign tank? Please tell me about the fit and quality of your replacement tank.
I am ***uming one of two things since this has been brought up before,#1 almost every vendor you tried is "out of stock" very common or #2 the $325 plus price tag shocks you.Ole Don I believe posted a while back that he used a 1955 tank but you do have to swap out your old tanks filler neck,so this may be an option: http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_n...k Stock Dimensions TF31C&_itemId=221224025208 I got lucky with my '54 my local radiator shop boiled it out and leak tested it for $60,looked like new when I picked it up.
Here is one more option that has been done and that is using a 1967 Mustang tank, which involves cutting a hole in the trunk floor and then you just bolt it in not a bad idea and cheaper yet:http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-65-66-...967|Model:Mustang&hash=item27d9102d6c&vxp=mtr Another plus is the sending unit will work with your gauges since Ford had 6 volt gauges through the early 80's.
Actually, my 55 tank is in a 55. I was really lucky in that its still nice inside. I have had the tank out of a 54 about 25 years ago, and I thought they were the same.
Yes, every source I found for the infamous Bob Drake tank is out, hasn't seen one for a year or more, and doesn't know when or IF to expect more.
Good price on the '55 tank here:http://www.autocitycl***ic.com/inde...facturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=64 You can see the difference in the filler necks between the 52-54 and the '55 cars you could probably do the neck swap without welding if you put a short length of hose similar to what is shown with the Mustang tank.
