I have been researching Eddie Edmunds for two years to write a comprehensive article about him could you put me in touch with Al Drake? thanks Roy Pagnini
You might be right about that, but there is one problem. The guy that lives around the corner is a long haul trucker and when he saw the 435 intakes he said they would be ideal to block the tires on his 18 wheeler. Something about the height of the intake w/ carbs and aircleaner would better fit the radius of his tall tires. He offered me $30 apiece for the two rectrangular port ones and $20 for the oval port one. With Christmas coming it sounded like a good way get a little cash to buy the wife a nice gift. Frank
Oval port one! Why would you even bother saving that one, I thinnk aluminum s**** prices are up, might get more for it selling it for s****
The nice thing about Edmunds is that he made an intake for every american engine, and a head for every flathead engine. My cousin even found a dual intake for his '40 Olds six, and I once had a N.O.S. Edmunds head for a Henry J six! If it weren't for him, all you straight 8 guys would be completely out in the cold. One of my most prized possesions is a pair of Edmunds air cleaners for the oval back draft '49 Olds Carter 2 bbls, with a matching Edmunds dual intake for my 303. If you really want to be sick, in 1970, R&C magazine ran an article about Fenton Mfg. They were into shifters and mag wheels by then, but a picture of the rear of the Fenton building shows a mountain (literally) of discarded Fenton headers and Edmunds intakes and heads that probably eventually ended up being melted down.
Here's some pix of my flatty's stuff Yep, it's a 4x2 intake -- some jerk stole one of the carbs. Dad bought it to put in '46 Ford grain truck when 327 Chevy's started outrunning him
Ive got pretty much the same parts as automotive stud. 2x2 intake and finned heads. all have a polish on them but its looking pretty rough in some spots. Didnt see anyone mention price, and I hate to be first, but I got the heads for $190 off FordBarn, and the intake for $20. Intake is cracked in one spot, but shouldnt be bad to fix. thanks for the history lesson
Sounds good. I don't know if epay is a fair example of the rest of the market, but no longer made brands in any useable condition regularly go for more than a new set of offy or edelbrocks
Bob: That type of intake shows up on epay every so often, but you have to be quick on the bidding.Ever try running a "Wanted" ad on ebay?.I have seen them every so often. Who knows, it just might work.
