Maybe we will be seeing ethanol going away and if you are investing in stocks this may be a good bet: Just in time for Halloween some pictures that are SCARY! https://www.google.com/search?q=eth...GZNJK4yAG3uYHgAw&ved=0CHkQsAQ&biw=994&bih=612
It will never go away. Trust me. The people who said "we have to have it" will never never never admit it ****s.
the ethanol debate is on the same par with man made global warming. Emotions trump facts, and Beep is right- there are too many people financially, politically or philosophically invested in both to turn back now.
Ive been using 10 % for over ten years (since it first came to NJ) and never had a problem with it. I have four cars, all using 10 % and never has a fuel related problem. Sat over the winter and always started right up. No problem with either carbs or hoses. Never used junk like Sta-Bil either-waste of money. Just start them and run them for a half hour at least once a month or so during the winter. my TBird (312) ,made two ,trips from NJ to West Coast and no problems. We have to deal with it, its not going away soon. - make any and all changes to deal with it. Lawn mower ran on it for 5-6 years with no problems, so with my other tools.
That NJ ethanol must be different then WI. ethanol because my new lawn mowers carb gaskets were trash after one mowing. Rubber gas lines got hard on 2 of my cars & one cracked & leaked after I bumped it while working by the gas tank. Now Gates make a fuel line the call there green line that ethanol doesn't effect.
Here is the problem with ethenol. The makers of cars and ethenol never wanted to use it for cars in the begining. They were simply not geared up to make that much. Political pressure was applied BIG TIME and thus the makers began enlarging existing plants and building new ones all over the country. The investment was in the Billions. Now, the makers are not going to allow the government the change the rules and have their investment go South. Therefore, we are stuck with it whether we need it or not.

Not to mention the hefty subsidies the ethanol producers receive courtesy of the very generous US taxpayers...
It's here to stay, like it or not. I don't but what are we gonna do? I heard somebody say the EPA doesn't care what happens to cars, trucks, etc. but only the environment. but what he didn't say was - ... and their own special interests, i.e. - those who $upport them.

OOPS! I posted the link twice and missed this link which I wanted you to read first http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/10/27/step-aside-ethanol-a-better-biofuel-is-coming.aspx
What I have found with gasoline in general is like most things you get what you pay for. I learned how bad this **** can be especially on low usage engines. I switched to Shell (preferred), Texaco or Chevron premium gas several years ago and all my problems went away. The extra $2 for a tank of gas is worth every penny IMO. I hate Chevron but when ever my kids have problems with their cars I go right down and get some Techron fuel system cleaner and run a tank of premium fuel through it and they straighten right up.
