Hey guys, I have always really liked the way the 1957 Ford hood opened and thought about flipping the direction of my 1956 hood. Anyone ever done this or have any experience on other models that might apply? Thanks for any help given in advance.
Sounds cool. May even look cool. However trying to service the engine and radiator is a ***** on these cars. I have a 59.
Yea Jeff, I have seen that done to a 1955 drag car, not fibergl*** but full metal tilt. I saw a 1955 Chevy a while back near home where the guy took the tilt stuff off of a 1980's model Buick that had a factory tilt front hood and adapted them to his 55 but I never was able to get any pictures of the setup. The way the 56 hood is made I would think that it would need to slide forward prior to the tilt. I may put my step son on it, he loves fabrication and anything odd.
This would probably adapt with minor tweaks:http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/301004379150?lpid=82 and save some fabrication.
The backwards opening hood is the one thing I hate about 57-59s. Even doing a simple water pump replacement is a major P.I.T.A.
Y-blokkah, tell me about it. I have learned to simply give in and remove the hood first. Saves a lot of bending in weired directions, a bunch of *****ing and bleeding knuckels. And, actually that hood is sort of easy to remove anyway.
