Thanks for the kind words folks. I did reply earlier but it seems to have got lost in the ether. Steering bracket/column is tacked in place and alignment has been sorted with a couple of UJs. I'll post up some pics this eve.
Can any of you AD owners spot anything I've missed off the seal list? Thinking of doing the bear claw latch conversion on the cab doors too. I want to retain my original exterior and interior handles (lever type from memory - not the push ****on ones). The Altman easy latch looks like a pretty good kit - anyone used that? Do you have to come up with a different way of locking the doors if you use that kit?
A bit of a break in progress as my gf and I relocated to Thailand for a few months work so the coffers were empty for a bit. But on with the thread which I should have updated before now... With the blasted cab reunited with the ch***is, the new firewall could be fabricated: You can see how big and how offset the lump is in the cab. Not a huge amount of legroom for the p***enger but you have to make some sacrifices in the name of looking cool The bonnet (hood) still wouldn't close fully as the master cylinder was touching it, so that was recessed into the firewall and hey presto - closure.
Unless you're Fred Flintstone, it's nice to have a floor to rest your feet on, so Wayne's next task was sorting a place for my size 12s, and tweaking the pedal position so that nothing fouled on the steering column:
I've just noticed it's a year since I updated this thread. There's been a little bit of progress, but the porject was put on hold whilst Wayne built more drag cars. Rest ***ured it has not been abandoned and work will resume when we can get it back into Intergalactic's workshop. Ch***is, including tunnel are Chevy G30 btw LUXLX
Me thinks the reason the door lock is on P*** side is so you aren't standing in traffic playing with the lock, > according to FORD books,, don't know bout Chevy... you will love Chev's of the 40's
If you haven't gotten them yet, some hot rodders use Pontiac Fiero seats. They're small and very comfortable. Don't know how they'll work in a truck tho.
