There has to be a hot rod use for these - I'm sure Ed Roth would have come up with something!! They are a pair of the large (big enough to sit in) intake nacelles off a Rolls Royce Spey gas turbine originally fitted to a BAC 1-11 aircraft. On eBay UK the starting bid is £50
worlds largest pair of gl***es??? not-really hot-rod related unless mr. magoo (sp???) decides he wants an A...
Headlight buckets mounted on each side of your grill. But now You will have to find very big lights to fill them.
You could have the world's first tunnelled continental kit. Or mount them flat in a pickup bed and have twin hot tubs...
a short section of the leading edge, trimmed back, might make good looking nerf bars, especially with one or two horizontal bars connection them. Neat looking stuff.
back end for a belly tank with 50's - 60's rocket styling. Just put a red shoot in there and polish the inside, it would look awesome.
I love these aircraft bits and I'm working some parts into my modified. I bet these cost a fortune when they were new (they are unused and still certified as airworthy and so could be put straight on to a BAC 1-11. But how many of those are still flying? - I guess that's why they're cheap} They might be a little large for that - see photo below of scale;
Those look BIG. And are plenty cool enough to solidly mount on a playroom wall, toss a beanbag into and have a supercool space for a kid (or adult) to hang out in. I want one for my house.
Yeah, maybe your kid could have the coolest sandbox on the block, but I really can't think of a hot rod related use for them. From the pics, I'm thinking they're about 6 feet tall overall. Maybe you could build a body buck with a wood frame, then skin it out in the panels from this intake piece, complete with rivets? Not sure how flexible that skin would be once you get it off of there. I would think the recycling value of these would be huge, but what do I know? How's s**** over there?
