Looks like a great car! It's got all the good functional updates - the split master cylinder, 12-volt conversion, alternator and dual exhaust - and is very presentable inside and out. Now...whatcha' gonna' do to make it your own? Plans?
first thing is to rid it of those aweful wheels and throw on some steelies with moon hubcabs and WWW. Aerostar coils up front, 3" block in the rear (it doesn't appear to be lowered), BUBBA distributor, 2x2 intake with stromberg 97s (or 4bbl intake with holley 390), front disk brakes. That should get me started for a while. Probably change the carpet out and add some insulation while i'm at it (I am in Houston). I had actually planned on buying something in need of more work but the price on this was not much more than I was planning to spend anyway. This will be a weekend family cruiser. (gotta figure out how to mount a c****at in the rear)
got her home and cruised around a good bit. It is in pretty great shape (lots of minor stuff but hey its a driver). One quick question... how the hell does the glovebox open? I just put the key in and got it open when i bought it, but have since been unable to get it open again.
Please post some new photos. I just went to look at it again and found that the Hemmings ad has been scrubbed. About your glovebox: Use a little bit of penetrating oil and a lot of patience. Chances are the mechanism is dry causing it to stick. Whatever you do, don't force it. Good luck.
The photos are not his car, silverjk bought the '53 but that '52 shown (also priced nice) also needs to ditch the centerline wheels too.
I'll post some new pics soon. BTW, the place Lonestar Cl***ics had some really nice rides there. I'd buy from them again. The tires are shot, so I'm going to pick up some used blackwalls for now (I can get them for $25 a piece) so I can keep driving it and spend my money on more pressing items. (headlights aren't currently working, i'm guessing a loose wire or blown fuse as they came on for a split second then went out)
The next time you get the glove box open, flood the catch with WD40. They get so sticky, the pressure to get it open keeps it closed.
