Howdy fellas! Just cruising through Craig's, dreaming about a future purchase somewhere way down the road, and I found this car. This can't be for real, can it?!?! http://blacksburg.craigslist.org/cto/4283117328.html
My guess would be that the car in the picture isn't the car for sale. I would guess that the car in the garage is similar to the one pictured, but not the same exact car. If it is, someone is gonna get a hell of a deal!
That's what I was thinking, but you never know. Also found this gl***top- looks pretty solid for the price. If I had the dough, I'd snap it up. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4301680255.html
That one in the blackburg listing inspired me to paint mine that way,it was listed at one time through a dealer at $8,500 that same car was parked behind it in the original ad about four years ago. The original picture is here: http://www.americandreamcars.com/1954customline2dr091805.htm
There appears to be some pretty good deals right now. Here's a '53 Merc 2dr hardtop my son found on CL: http://annarbor.craigslist.org/cto/4313538799.html
Talk about too good to be true this was in my own back FF*** back yard, http://ottumwa.craigslist.org/cto/4309098734.html
Got an email back from the owner of the '54- it has been sold. No kidding. I emailed it to my buddy who is looking for a car last night; he said that if it was legit, he would put me on a plane from WI to go and get it ASAP. Raceron- That Merc looks like a really good deal and a great platform for a mild custom. I have an entire shop at my disposal and a great group of fellas in our "club" who will help with my next ride- we all work on eachother's cars. Now I just need to figure out how to s****e some dough together to get one. All told, I really would like to get back into a '52-'54 Ford or Merc.
