I didn't mwntion the vents in my previous post. The car needs to be cooled, I don't think they look out of place at all. They are big enough to do the job, they are off a traditional hood, and in my opinion they look good too. When the car is one color they won't stand out as much, especialy when they are closed. Just my worthless opinion. Still can't wait to see that car finished.
I think they look very cool! I love stuff that's different, especially on a different kindof car. About the reinforcement, maybe some cables on teh front side of the door to the body, to keep the doors from opening too far, when they're shut the cables would be inside? Just an idea, if it's even necessary. Good work!
Those will make great fish gills man! ha! ha! ha! Did you route the air inside or is this just to make some air flow? I still love this thing man.
I think they suit the ride....love the idea of them shut when stationary and open when needed...sweet. Cheers MAIKI
I appreciate that different viewpoints are expressed in this thread and a few guys step up with comments . . . that's what makes the HAMB what it is I stand with the positives myself. . . it will be an eye catching detail that will "explain" the lack of radiator in the front of the car . . . and the tiny rib on each vent door is just enough to sharpen it up . . . really great design work man.
little man, Screw all the haterizing . I think the vents rule. They're just jealous that the voices in your head only talk to you.HA!HA!HA!.You'll be laughing at Detroit. executioner
Let me join in on the chorus of nut-tapping -- well deserved at that...........That thing is ****IN' RAD (no pun intended)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Proof that not all the good ideas are taken................
I have an idea... use a thermostatic vac*** switch plumbed into the manifold... a pair of the vac*** operated flapper ***emblies off of any 70's gm car... and viola, the "gills" only open when the coolant reaches operating temp! and what is more, when you shut it off, they close by themselves! I shouldprobably mention that this is a cool addition to a cool car!
Believe me, it was hard making a "negative" comment about such a killer car. I like the overall look and appreciate most of the details. If it was me, I'd **** air from underneath the car and let it out of louvers in the trunk lid.
Thats soo cool now all you need to do is make them open and close with the throtle. that would be so ausome!! Nice work!!!
It appears that some of you guy's here don't/can't think outside the box. But I guess your cars look just like every other hot rod. Good job, I think the doors are cool.......
Love 'em. Don't change a thing. The debate going on right now just shows how much impact this thing will have when it's on the street. Head scratching, thought provoking, and ORIGINAL!
Littleman, May I suggest a 38 or 39 Ford coupe dash. They are pretty much flat and would look real good in that coupe. Easy to cut down and cheaper than a 40 dash. Those vents are 32 Chevy as stated earlier. Good job so far.
Strange how Littleman is capable of graciously accepting criticsim of his work without making personal attacks while "some of you" who have no stake whatsoever in how his car turns out can't seem to avoid responding to other people's opinions without acting like children. Oh well. I still think the doors are ugly and out of place. It might be an interesting idea, that doesn't mean it belongs on this car.
didnt like them at first but i keep looking at this post and i like them mor eand more... kick *** idea though... not knockin that.... i like this idea...make them automatic...that would just throw this thing even mor eover the top and they would really add alot more imho... keep insiring us all to get out of that box and think "little' -b
dave i'ts cool, keep on building..i also like the white truck dash.anyone can build a rod out of a cataloge, but the end result it looks like all the others!
This is the first time I'm seeing this car, so forgive me if this has all been covered before. Are you going to run some kind of ducting between the vents and the radiator? How will the air that p***es through the radiator exit the trunk area? Will the floor be left open? Louvered trunk lid? A friend of mine has a very similar set-up in his 38 Dodge coupe. He left his floor open, and runs electric fans on the back side of the radiator. It looks like his radiator is at a little more severe angle than yours, though. He doesn't have any troubles with the car overheating, even without vents. But it did take him a long time to get all the air bubbles out of the cooling system when he first started running it.
littleman... i have never met you so I don't feel right critizing...but they look like too much...visually it breaks up the body and confuses your eye (should the focus be on the tire and wheels, or the vent).. Just my opinion... cool. tok
How's "Meat Whistle's" A coming? When I saw the first pics of Littlemans car, I immediately thought of that injected Nailhead powered, spindly son-of-a-*****!!! I would love to see how that thing is working out... Sounded rad from his plans. I will try to stop by sometime before I'm in Texas permanent. I'll buy a round at the Ol' Salty if I can make it. -LUV Phil
