I need the correct carburator and air cleaner for a 1957 Thunderbird. I am in the process of re-restoring (it was 100% restored some 30 years ago) a 1957 T-Bird for a good friend of mine. Someone replaced the original carb with a later model Holley and tossed the air cleaner? Can you beleive that. Just tossed it. If yopu don have one, can you advise me who may or who repops this stuf? Thanks
CASCO sells a reproduction...on page 32 of catalogue or go to www.cl***ictbird.com tel#800-374-0914If you want an original...HILLS THUNDERBIRD CENTER, RACINE OH...probably has one ...they also sell reproductions.....TEL# 1-800-562-1955 John in CT
I see supposedly original carbs on ebay quite often. As I have a 56, I never bothered to check the numbers. If you need numbers, let me know. If your not building an original for Concours, Holley has a close replacement, about the same CFM as original. The main difference is the fuel inlet which interferes with the stock air cleaner, but CASCO has a kit to solve that without any cutting. Repro air cleaners are available from any of the TBird parts suppliers. CASCO, Hills, Tee-Bird Products. There are a couple more. CASCO and Hills also have some original parts - they may have an original air cleaner. Another source for original parts is lilbirds567@ wmconnect.com (Adrian)
