I did a SEARCH here and nothing came up.The 90 mustang t5 clutch is cable operated .Is this what i want? Im swapping out my 3 on the tree with o/d.Can i swap out the tailshaft with an S-10 tailshaft so it doesnt interfere with the bench seat? Thank.PS THIs is in a 56 victoria.

I think I saw a couple people that had used the cable, but the stock clutch pedal obviously uses a linkage, so you'd have to come up with a way to attach and route the cable. Personally I decided to use a hydraulic set-up using a compact Wilwood 260-10372 master and a Speedway slave.

I'm just using the stock tailhousing and the shifter clears my bench seat (I'm using a Lokar MSL6B2 16" double bend shifter handle), and it clears, but it's pretty close. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of my set-up, but I referenced HRP's build when I was planning mine, hopefully he won't mind if I post up his pics.

I'm running an 85 Mustang 302/5 speed in my 56 Fairlane. I'm using a hydraulic throw out bearing. I modified the stock clutch pedal to work with it.
I have bucket seats, so no shifter clearance issues.

I'm running a Borg-warner mustang t-5 in my '54 behind a 292. I've slid my seat back as far as possible and the seat clears my double bend hurst shifter. I'm hydraulic as well. Though, on my brothers '54 mercury we used the stock stuff.

What exactly is the problem you're running into? The tailshaft that is perfect is the astrovan tail shaft, but they're pretty rare. The S10 shaft apparently mates up but might need a different output shaft. Regardless, I know for a fact a mustang transmission will fit in there, it just is a pain in the ***.

Is there anyway you can run a 5 speed but keep column change? Or is it a mission, new column needed etc?

@Mark T: that looks like the one I'm using. I don't have everything back together yet, but it seems like there will be plenty of clearance.
