    Hi all,

I just purchased a 56 Fairlane 2d HT and I'd like to upgrade the front swaybar to a heavy duty one. Where is the best place to purchase one? I have been surching the web with not too much luck.

I search the forum before I ask with no luck. If this has been discussed before I apologize.

    Thanks!

I bought a 1 1/8" bar from nascardave, a member of our group for about $170. It's a big improvement over the stock bar.
Here's a link to the thread I posted with pictures.
Welcome to the group from So Cal. Any pics of your car?

    Thanks for the information.

I'll check some of these places out and make a decision.

I'll add some pics as soon as I figure out how.

    The-Stig,

I tried to post some pics on this thread but apparently I need to be on a main page post. Anyway, I posted an album. Check it out and I'll add some better pics later.

    Thanks!

Nalakaya, that's a very nice Fairlane, good color too. Here is how to post pictures.
mikhett, I rebuilt my front end about five years ago and the sway bar makes a big difference. The more I drive it, the more I like it.

Yes, the big front sway bar makes a huge difference in the handling. Combined with lowering and radial tires the car can be made to handle like a slot car.

Can anyone give me the eye to eye length on the sway bar. I'm wintering in Az. and I'd like to pick one up from nascardave to take back to Wisconsin for my 55 Victoria, gotta figure out storage in my Escape.

Hi, The sway bar measures approximately 41" wide, 12"deep and 2"tall.
If you package one up to store it, it will be 46" wide 15"deep and 3"tall.
    Hope this helps. Dave

Hey Dave, thanks for the quick reply, do you have them in stock? What size do you recommend for a 55 Victoria, 3 inch drop in the front and running radials?

The general consensuses is 1" is a good all around sway bar. If you go with 1 1/8" it is recommended to install a 3/4" rear sway bar.
I think these cars with either 6 or 9 leaf rear springs and the with of tires that are available to us that a 1" bar and a set of gas shocks should satisfy most.
    Just my thought. Dave

I learned of NASCARdaves swaybars from this thread and I just installed a 1 inch sway bar in my 54 ford Sunliner. It fit perfect and took only about 1/2 hour! could not have been easier to install!
