Hello, I work to drop my 54 Ford, I chose a fatman kit for the front (disc and dropped spindels). The master cylinder don't work with disc brake. Can you tell me if it exist a perfect master cylinder to work with this kit and compatible with my brake pedal ? Thanks
This one will do the job: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-1955-1...Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b208e25b&vxp=mtr It says you can make an offer,I would offer $205 to help cover your shipping to France. You could use a manual dual master by itself but without the booster you probably would not be happy with the results.
I used one from CPP, $199. It can be used with disc/drum, has built in proportioning valve. Good looking too.
Thanks guys ! The CPP looks good ! Can I adapt it without modification on the arm ? Can I use the arm of the old master cylinder ? And do you use it with disc to ? It's not to hard to brake without booster ?
You can try it and if you are not happy with it you can add the booster later, did you get an opinion from Fatman since you are using their stuff? Might be wise to do that first.
Yes good idea, i try without booster and if i need it... I just started to install the Fatman kit. I hope to finish this week end. (I took it by contenair to save postage. but it take time to France). It looks good quality, the spindel are not foundry but welded but it's looks good. The only problem it's the disc-hub : the diameter of the hub is larger than the center hole in the wheel (original one). You have to machine the hub. And some little modifications on the lower arm (cutting little stuff). The spindle is a little inside: gain turning radius. Excuse my bad english ))
On this car the master cyl was moved into the car under the dash then the remote servo ( booster ) mount welded onto ch***is on the front left of the engine bay just under the oil filter servo mounted this keeps the booster out of the way giving you a clean engine bay and i know you probably dont want to use an internal pedal box but if you use the chrome master cyl and find that you need a booster you can use the remote type and move it out of the way ...hope that helps Duncan
I have the CPP master cylinder on my 56, no mods to the arm. It does work without a booster but I added one and it works better with it. When I put it in I had disc/drum, now I have disc/disc and it works with both. Without the booster it mounts to stock mounting holes, with the booster I had to make an adapter to mount it to the firewall.
