I'm using a 97 Blazer rear end in my 56. I took my drive shaft and yoke to a drive shaft shaft shop and had them make me a drive shaft.

thanks stig. Round about cost? I live near randy's ring and pinion. Was gonna give them a call. But if they had a u joint adapter that works. But I guess nothing is easy :)

I think I got the rear for around $100 plus $100 for the drive shaft. I don't remember if it was two or four wheel drive. I know it is four inches narrower than stock. I'll measure it tomorrow. With it being narrower, the calipers hit the leaf springs. To get around this I used two inch lowering blocks and then flipped the shackles to raise it back up for tire clearance.
Rear wheels have 2 1/2" backspace, 8" wheels, 235/60/15 tires.
