Hey guys I tried to search, but the search bar wouldn't work for some reason. Anyways, my '54 mainline has a stock rear end and I want to change the fluid in it. What type do I need, and how much will I need? Thanks guys.

I use 80 - 90w 5 pints in my 54 Merc. Bend a piece of wire at 90* about 1/2" long on one end. Use that end to check the oil level through the fill hole. The oil should touch the end of the 1/2" wire end.

The shop manual says S.A.E. 90 wt hypoid for temps down to -10F, 80 wt hypoid for temps below -10.
