We painted the bumpers on my 53 over 22 years ago. There is one spot that I didn't get the chrome ground off and the paint came off. The trick is to grind all the chrome off!

I have the opposite situation. A P.O. painted the bumpers and grill on my Merc body color. It's so 1980's I feel like I should be wearing a mullet when I drive it.

A chrome shop can strip the chrome off.
