Has anyone swapped a 429/460 into a 1955-56 Ford car? I have a nice motor/trans combo and think this would be a nice runner. I know the FE is almost a bolt in. Any suggestions?
Whole different ball game there, you will probably be talking with this company: http://www.critesperformanceparts.com/ there is a picture of their mount and crossmember kit there.
I bought the swap kit from Crites but have not installed it yet. If ordering from Crites they build when you order so expect 4-6 week wait times. Ford Powertrain also makes headers but I felt they are too small tubing although they disagree. http://www.fordpowertrain.com/FPAindex/Fordp***enger1.htm More pics can be found here. http://s36.photobucket.com/user/fordsbyjay/library/1956 Ford Mainline/FPA 460 headers?sort=3&page=1
Just a note, the Ford 460 has two different exhaust patterns. The p***enger head and the CJ/SCJ exhaust port so make sure and get the right one. http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?p=946132
If you get headers from Crites, read the instructions before you do anything else. The ones I bought need to be installed one tube at a time, then the collecter slipped on and bolted. When you follow the instructions, they fit very nice.
