Why would you be loosing the exhaust system rather than be losing it ?

Loosing it, or loosening it will just make it hang there and rattle and leak. :D

In any case I would build a proper exhaust system to replace it instead of just adding baffles to the lakes pipes.

Baffled lakes pipes are a move you will regret later on.

Car looks great and orange will work good. Can wait to see it finished, I'll be watching.

  4. Orange is the shi*... there are a couple of orange hot rods around here. There (I think) is a husband and wife that sort of have matching. They are both the same year but different body styles. I think it is a cool color. Especially if there is white somewhere in the scheme.

I think orange is one of those classic hot rod colors! I like your choice.

Will the grill insert stay orange too or going with a contrasting color?

Can't wait to see the finished product.

  9. Making some head way. Have it all sanded down, hood fitted with hole for scoop. Hopefully SPRING will soon be here and I can get some warm weather in April for painting...;)

  10. What happened to the old paint?? Orange and Black were my high school colors! Always liked them. Good Luck with the paint!

  11. That's pretty crazy. My high school colors from Somerset, PA were and still are Orange & Black. :)

  12. Well, finally making some head way after the nasty winter we had up north.
I got all the inside, (cutting in) paint work done today.
Now just need to put it back together and do so final sanding and prep work for the final painting. It's starting to look like something again..

  14. Thanks. I have spent about 4 years buying and selling hot rods to get to where I'm at today and it has been quite a journey but I finally got my all time dream car and I'm making it my own no matter what anyone else thinks of it. :D

  15. Well I finally have it painted. It came out pretty nice if I have to say so myself.

Lookn' good! Is it single stage or cc? Are you going with a black grille insert? Orange sure holds up,mine is the same paint that was on it in 1968 when I first saw it. Altough she's probably more touched up chips, than original spray;by now!

  22. Thanks bowie. I used PPG Concept DCC single stage urethane.
And yes the grille insert is black.
