I am thinking about cutting my two original oil pans apart to make a dragster style pan for my fed. I was wondering if anyone has tried this. should I add any internal baffles or just run a windage tray. I will try to get some pictures if I cut them up and weld them.
You need baffles in the pan..... Olson makes a first class pan with proper baffling. Are they cheap .....no....but buzz the bearings out of the bottom end once and you'll wish you had..... They are aluminum so if its a period looking car just paint it..... We've used them for years In drag race as well as circle track.....wet and dry sump......good guys to work with.....
Before you cut your pans up, I have a pan with baffles etc, that doesn't work for me. Are you looking for a 392 pan? Its flat, has a shorty dipstick and a starter pocket. And is kicked out on both sides, so it is wider. Its steel, not aluminum. The width is why it doesn't work for me, it interferes with the headers. Let me know if you want pics posted. This might work for you.
I just got back on the new HAMB. Take a look at the last item on my parts list in my web site www.donrossfab.com see if that is what you werewanting. Don Ross
