Does anyone have pictures of 32 style k cross members they made for their a frame. Im looking to keep it simple. Im mostly interested in how to mount a top loader style trans, and the angle and location to mount 1940 style pedals. I would like to retain the factory center member. Basically Im looking for a simple Tardel style k member. Thanks for help, Chris
Check the tech archive. I know that there are at least 2 articles in there dealing with this. One for a Tardel K-member in an A frame and another one dealing with putting an F1 member in an A frame - both with pedals and photos.
Thanks FLathead, what you did is exactly what im looking for. Im not trying to spend a lot of money, and i would prefer to make what i can. Did you find that the 40 trany mount was the best to use or is that just what you found first? Thanks, Chris
I never did make the 40 brace work..... Long story short, I went with a Tardell K member........very nice pc.....some of the best money I've spent on the project. I'll have to say, I wasn't impressed with the welds at all......honestly, they ****ed!! I'll try to keep this short.... I ordered a k member from Vern waaay back in june or so. Two weeks later, I got a little flyer that had a pic of the cross member and a hand written not that said, "in stock ready to ship." So, I thought I screwed something up and faxed the order again, about a month later. Heard nothing for months. I emailed a buddy of his AND his website......nothing. About 2 months ago, I posted a wanted ad in the cl***ifieds here for a VT k member. Devin, GAVE me a VT proto type he had for only the cost of shipping (great fella). However, he was right, it was VERY Frankensteinish. No problem, I'll correct the measurements, add some of my touches and make it symetrical (his wasn't). I spent about 6 hours drawing it on autocad and getting measurements from guys on here and from my trannies, etc. I didn't have the arms but I started drawing them the way I thought they should be. I finished all of this on a Wednesday and on Friday, about 6 months later, I came home to find a big box on the back porch from VT. I can post the autocad file in a minute. If you want, you can make your own. I still don't have the arms finalize. However, since I have an actual one now, I plan to finish the arms anyway. I will build my next one....... I try to save money too (I'm cheap) but if you can swing it AND he will send it in reasonable time, I'd buy one again for sure!
