If you want to use that F-1 rear, you can. If you used the powerglide trans, the '63-'66 Impala driveshaft/U-joints will fit.
Go to a good parts house, (better yet, a Driveline Service) there are 'combination' u-joints that will mate any drive shaft to practically any pinion flange.
Of 3 popular joints, (can't remember part #s off the top of my head, sorry) one will fit.

Rear end to use: '57 to '60 F100 9 inch. Can't recall if the spring pads are the same distance apart, but think so. Seems like I remember it was a bolt-in.
It IS a bolt in for '53-'56 F100...

Thanks Mike I knew about that one, it uses the same ujoint yoke as mine I am looking for something with a little more beef!

  4. The Dana 44 and earlier Dana 41 I have from a 49 F1 already has 8 1/2" ring gear, just the axles are not as strong as a 9"

Richie is right on. Most later model Dana 44's are almost bolt in. Some may require a spring pad change, but that is easy if you have a welder and grinder and mediocre fab skills. 44's have a ton of aftermarket support and come in a wide range of ratios. They will also take a pretty good beating before giving up. I put a Dana 44 from a '65 IH Scout 800 in my '51 F-1. Just had to reverse the spring pads. 3.08 gears with posi. Takes everything the 351W and 5 spd can throw at it.

The 9" from the 57 to 72 F-1-- & F-150 is the one to use, just have to lengthen the drive
shaft when its going in a stock truck. This would be the perfect time to make the swap, as you should be already changing the drive shaft length.
