There was a thread on here awhile back that had some renderings of tractors made into hot rods and I found this one that I thought would be kinda neat. I have no idea what the hell it is though.
My friend's uncle has a really old tractor that appears to be based off a model T. It is made by Sears. Has a flat-4 in it, and car running gear. Dual car rear tires. I was thinking about doing something with it.
Several companies offered kits to convert Model T's and A's into tractors. At the time the cars were cheap, lots of people already had an old one parked out back. Some of the kits kept the basic frame, lost the body, and had an extra axle with bigger wheels. The bigger wheels were driven off chains from sprockets bolted to the rear hubs. Lots of farmers were too cheap to buy a kit so they took a Model A or other early vehicle, lost the body, added an extra transmission and a big truck rear end. This gave them the gearing they needed for farming. They called them "doodlebugs". Stripped A's and T's made cheap and easy wagons too.
Yep, its a Porsche. I thought someone was pulling my leg the first time I heard of a Porsche tractor. I knew Lamborghini built tractors. That must be for some of them high falutin' yuppie farmers.
Cool tractor, I use to restore old Farmall's Cub's through M's plus a few 460's and a pretty rare 240 rowcrop. Hence my handle Farmall PS a good place for tractor info is www.YTmag.com
During the war years .. You could not buy tractors or farm equipment, You had to make do .. My Grandpa was a black smith, made several tractors out or cars and various other items, some of the stuff is still laying in the grove at home in South Dakota
Is it one of those with the cool swept back grill and side hood panels? I always thought they would look great for a track car look.
