Anyone familiar with these folks? I found them on craigslist, and I asked them about restoring a steering wheel for me. After checking out their site, I found a car I want to buy as well. They are asking for a wire transfer, so I thought I'd ask about them before doing so.

Anyone here have any dealings with them? Thanks!

I do not know anything about them but I would never do a wire transfer, that is like kissing your money goodby. When purchasing a car that far away if they won't use a escrow I won't do the deal.:D

Thanks for the advice, man. There is a reason the money is still in my account, and not in theirs. This thread wasn't about how to buy a car 3000 miles away. I got that covered. I do want to know if anyone has dealt with them, and if so, what was the end result? I also want to know if anyone living in North Hollywood or the surrounding area would be able to verify a few things for me. When and if that gets done, I will spend my money.

Anyone living in the Hollywood area able to help a brother out?

  8. I dont understand why you are asking someone to do a "driveby". Doesnt seem like that would prove much but just google-map the address and do the street-view function and you can peek into there windows with the little icon! LOL ... good luck

Thanks, Sam. Did that this morning. I didn't know asking would create an issue. Some things didn't jive, so I asked anyway.

I ordered a part for my 1959 Ford and paid $109 with PayPal. The strung me along and never sent the part. They don't answer their telephone and don't reply to my emails. Paypal will not get involved if they string you along past 45 days. bad news!

I have dealt with them before as well. I had Kris restore two steering wheels for me. Although I did have to wait for a long time (~6 months) to get the steering wheels back, it was worth the wait. I am getting ready to send two more lincoln steering wheels this week his way to get them restored. I'm attaching a picture of the first lincoln wheel he restored for me.

Hey guys Kris from fiftiesfords here, glad you are all happy with your wheels, and yes sometimes it can take some time to finish them but they are worth the wait, Im known best for the kustom Lincoln wheels I do with the mercury head centers and adaptors that will fit most anything, Also sorry to John Bower, I was out of town and couldn't get his part to him within his time frame but John you did get a full refund, Thanks again guys don't forget to spread the word about my cool steering wheels and very fair prices, Kris from www.fiftiesfords.com

I posted this almost 2 1/2 years ago when I bought a 59 Ranch Wagon from them. The car, sadly, was not as advertised. It was described as a driver. I had one of my own drivers haul it from Hollywood to Fort Lauderdale for me. The front windshield was cracked in numerous places, and I was never told about it. There was transmission fluid in the radiator, and radiator fluid in the transmission. When I drained the oil from the motor, it had a very milky color to it. I was told the y block had been rebuilt. I hoped that it had been from sitting, but after filling it with new oil and yard driving it for a while, there was more water in the oil. It did run, but only enough to get on and off the transporter. Everything needed to be rebuilt. Lesson learned for me. I won't ever buy a car without traveling to see it first, regardless of location. I will say that the work Kris does on his steering wheels seems to be exceptional. He has that part of his business down pat.

I am having the same problem. I paid for parts for my '59 ford almost a year ago. I talked to them on the phone multiple times to try to clear things up and ask questions, but I always got the run around. The man was very nice and apologetic on the phone. It may be that the number is just customer service and the workers are in short supply, but I would at least like an update on a tracking number.

I still have not gotten any response. Does anyone know any other way for me to get in contact for a refund or to push to have my parts sent? It has now been a year that I have put in an order for body parts.

I will never buy from fiftiesfords (Kris)!!!! I bought a very nice 47 Lincoln steering wheel and I received it damaged. I ended up paying around $800 Canadian once it was to my house in Alberta. Kris said to send the wheel back and keep the horn ring I would receive the new wheel in a month or so. This May 2016 will be two years. I've emailed him countless times and he replies back once and awhile. He told me a few times it was shipped but I still don't have one in my hands. Terrible customer service.

I have still never had a reply or for them to pick up the phone when I call.
I ordered parts from them, and as stated above: they would not be shipping out until AFTER about 45 days.
This was the first problem I have ever had to bring up to Paypal, so of course, I didn't know and the money can't be refunded.

I would have been fine if they would have just gotten me the parts, but with the car being stored away, and the parts being at 3 (!) different body shops, it has been a huge waste of time and money on my part while HOPING that the parts would come through.

It has now been 2 years and 1 month since my first order.
I see that they are back on ebay under another name:
