So I'm getting my gear together to start paint on my truck, and I'm wanting to paint my interior. Question is, how do I paint the roof (inside) of the truck? Is there a special paint gun with a detachable cup that I can use? Or will a standard paint gun be able to be used in a vertical position w/o spilling? If you have a link please post it.

    Thanks.

  2. This is what you need. I have been using this system for years at my shop.

tudorfritz awesome, thanks. question: he said the liner had a mesh in it to filter your paint before you spray, i'm planning on using .004 micro flakes, would those get caught in the screen, or would i be able to paint the .004 flakes with that system?

  4. The filters are removable and you would need to take it out or the bag will plug.

  5. I'm not too sure on the flakes in the filter. The mesh is pretty small, I would say if they would get stuck in a paper paint strainer they won't fit through the filter in the lid. You could always take a razor blade and cut the screen out of the lid. That shouldn't effect anything not having the screen in the lid.

  7. Ok as someone who knows this product like my wife...the standard strainer is 200 micron, same as most paper strainers. There is a 125 micron for waterbase toners. The filters simply pull off the lid. The nice thing about spraying flake in the PPS system is the low surface energy of the liner I.e things don't stick to the side. One of the many benefits is being being able to spray the gun at any angle....this is great for interior jobs, trunks, rockers, etc. good luck with your project.

So if I did my math correct, .004 flake is like 102 microns? Which means it should flow fine in a 125 micron strainer?

And here I thought you guys would use a mini-pot with a hose. That liner's pretty cool.

I'm just gonna roll my car over & spray it with my cheapo Binks clone.

Hi Just depends on the size of the flake..I use the cup and liner system and had trouble painting candy apple silverbase..was clogging the filter ..maybe there are different micron filters for the different size flake..but it is a great system and saves a lot of time and cleaning.......

  11. I wouldn't go 125 it's to fine. Waterbase paints don't have the solvent to remove the bigger chunks...so they need a finer strainer to make sure they don't end up in the paint. Do a spray out to see your results. If it seems like it's not flowing pour it in a mix cup and back into the liner through a paper strainer and pull the strainer from the lid
