Hot Rods BFD... IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SamIyam, May 18, 2014.

  1. After sitting in a garage in Stockton for 8 years... Tim and I decided to drag the BFD out of retirement and run it at Eagle Field yesterday. The old girl HONKS! Remember... you too can be doing this!

    Nice hookup there!

I was going to go see the drags, but I came down with a touch of the flu. Stuck at home at a desk

    :(

Well, I'm not a good spectator and I don't have a nostalgic car that runs right now.

That was cool, hard to believe it's been 8 years since you drove it. It seems like only yesterday......

  13. Yep! No water... the ol' 283 needs a little H2O to get the tires really going! It'll still run mid-10's... but I think it's time for some more motor!

Nice to see you got it out on the track again Sam. Still looking good!

For those questioning, it is an old 283 engine. It now has mech injection and runs on alcohol. Trans is a PG with a transbrake. The rearend is an Olds/Pontiac with a spool. I don't recall the gear ratio, Sam can provide that detail. At Mokan the engine was a 350 on gas with a carb. It was the giveaway engine that was the grand prize for that first year of the event.

The 283 runs stronger than the mild 350 ever did.

That was a great day. The guys with the coupe worked so hard, and they sure looked the part.

Sam, check your conversations ( new PM )
