I found a 58 Ford Fairlane Hardtop Convertible in a small town north of here and I'm trying to figure out how to open the trunk area for inspection. The owner has recently passed away, so without any manuals to go by I'm at a loss on how to proceed. The top is up now. Thanks in advance for any advice. Bob
I'll check my shop manual for my 58 Fairlane 500. Shoot me a text at 9518375675 and I'll see if I can find anything Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

I'm just glad these were in the manual . I've got a Fairlane 500 and well good thing Ford threw everything in one book in 58. Let me know if you need anything else Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
If the top is functional you use the top switch under the dash. The first cycle is the trunk opening. If the top isn't functioning the relays are behind the backseat. There should be a cover on the relays that has a listing of which relay controls which cycle. If you jump across the relay for deck open, it should open. Good luck Allan
Had one of these back in the day. Much better to get the electrics working if it is just battery issues. To open , several electrical screw pull downs must release , as well as two screw jacks activate to raise lid. Probably a way to do it manually, but can't be easy. Not sure you can easily get to relay/electrical center from the outside. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Just take jumper cables from a battery and jump the proper solenoid behind the rear seat first you have to jump the one that powers the 2 screws that lockit down. When you have it right you will see the deck raise about 1/2 inch while you hear the screws turning. Once it raises about a 1/2 inch and starts jumping the screws are disengaged. Next find the solenoid for the screws to lift the deck lid up. My brother and father have about 6 skyliners between them. Hope this helps
