Memorial Day is always a great weekend to get the Hot Rods out on the road and watch some racing. Memorial Day means a lot more then just BBQ's and Monday off to a lot of people. So here's to the men and women who gave their lives for our Country. My Mother's cousin PFC Ronald McNees age 21, 3/9 USMC, April 10th 1965, Vietnam . SSGT James W. Cawley age 41, 2/23 USMC, March 29, 2003, Iraq. Who I was unable to save. We will never forget.
"These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor - and a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror." Michael N. Castle
From an old vet to all those who served our country, especially those who gave all in pursuit of freedom and liberty, God bless and keep you, give you peace.
A man that I have immense respect for, the Reverend Billy Graham,said... Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand the spines of others are stiffened. I am humbled and thankful to all the hundreds of thousands of our service men & women that paid the ultimate price so we might enjoy the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted, Memorial Day we celebrate or freedoms but we should all pause and reflect on what price has been paid by others. HRP
BTW,if you are a American by birth or by choice you really should be flying Old Glory today,I chose to fly it everyday. HRP
Sorry about that....still learning. I agree HRP ...I fly mine as much as I can. And when I see someone neglecting their flag I'm not afraid to point it out to them and when asked to replace it they usually do. As a Vietnam vet I might be more sensitive to it than I should be , but it really bothers me when I see how more and more the meaning of Memorial Day is lost , and the day is simply a day to get a good deal on a new car, a recliner , or some yard junk at one of the big box stores. I'm done.

Reality really hit home last summer during a trip to Gettysburg when I realized how many gave all to save and shape the country we have today that those who continue to give all to protect. When appropriate, I try to p*** on that one weekend a year is not enough time to reflect on all the sacrifices made for us. Ed
Today I go place flags on my children's grandfather's stone and my wife's uncle's. I remember my 3 uncles and my 97 yr old (and still with me) mother's service at the Navy Dept in Philly during WW II. My two sons, one (40 yr old) getting ready to deploy to the desert to help with the withdrawl (hope it's quick) and the younger, a first responder with the local VFD and with Protective Services for the DOD. I did my stint in the Navy in the late 60's and very proud of them all. God Bless our current and former service men.
May God bless every one who is serving our country or who has served our country. And my son who is in the Air Force.
Whenever i kin tell i'm helpin a serviceman-woman -- I always THANK them for *their* service -- one young fellow on the bridge not too long ago -- blown a hose -- was on leave to go home before shippin out -- helped him pay for a tow to git him home ASAP
I have stood side by side with many of your troops, Felt the fear of the unknown and watched what could be our end come. I have only respect for a man or woman that serves their country. At times it is not as easy a burden as most believe. So to the family's that have lost loved ones, people who have lost mates. Lest We Forget. To my best mate, you went first....so you better have the beer and girls ready for me! Miss you mate. Doc.
