Not at all who I would have wanted it to go to (like I have a say) but at least he is "determined to preserve it, to honor their memory".

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - The home of the late singer Johnny Cash has been purchased by another singer with a distinctive voice.

Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees and his wife, Linda, bought the house for an undisclosed amount, an attorney for the Cash family said Wednesday.

The Gibbs plan to restore the rustic retreat on Old Hickory Lake where Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, lived during their entire marriage. Hendersonville is 13 miles northeast of downtown Nashville.

"This place will always be the spiritual home for the Cashes," Barry Gibb said in a statement. "My wife, Linda, and I are determined to preserve it, to honor their memory. We fell in love with it; it's an incredible honor for us. We plan to use the home to write songs because of the musical inspiration."

The home was purchased by Balinda LLC, a Florida company owned by Gibb and his wife, according to Nashville attorney Robert L. Sullivan, who administers the Cash estate for the family.

The home, visited by everyone from U.S. presidents to ordinary fans, went on the market in June with an asking price of $2.9 million. The price was lowered this fall to $2.5 million.

The couple lived for 35 years at the 13,880-square-foot home and 4.6-acre property.

I thought Barry Gibb was dead.....

He must be the only one of the BeeGees left... I know two of the others are dead....Maurice and ..........Andy maybe was his name...the youngest one...

  5. I'm just glad what's-hi-face didn't buy it.
The guy who just played Johnny Cash in that stupid, unnessecery, unwarrented & otherwise useless "biopic".

Andy died young...wasn't a part of the actual BeeGees group.

Maurice from the group is dead...Barry and ROBIN are the surviving members.

NO...I'm not the president of the fan club. :D

I got to meet Johnny Cash and Miss June briefly on several occasions. (I work for their local Fire department/EMS service)

They were both truly nice, genuine, down to earth people and will be missed.

Let's just be glad that somebody who (at least appears to) appreciates JC's legacy AND has the bankroll to maintain the property bought the place.

At least it wasn't some numbnut like 50cent that bought it.

    Walk the Line was awesome.

  11. It's gotta **** to be one of the Cash grandchildren... Johnny and June die, and everything they owned gets auctioned off and the family estates gets sold.

I'm a packrat and too nostalgic for family history I guess.

I don't get it. Cheesy tiny houses are selling out here in so-cal for like a million bucks, but for just 2.9 million you could have the Cash estate?

Another reason why California ****s:D-No seriously, 2.9 is a **** ton of cash in the midwest for a home. My parents sold a 90 acres and a 20 year old house for 125k and thought they got a good deal. Of course it was just the "Mootz" estate.

wow, i may just bid on that. imagine taking a dump on the same toilet that cash may have thrown up in after an amphetimine and pbr binge...

sheesh, people should wake up and realize what a real legacy is.

i wonder if gibb is wondering around home depots singing to the hired help there...

"how can you mend a broken fence? ....how can you un-stop the drain?

Had a shot at a couple of his cars a few years back. Early 30's Chrysler?/
Dodge? ,one roadster, other a cabriolet and blew it. I was a little short on
um err... Cash. Did get my *** whipped and sent to bed around age 8 for wanting to watch a TV special he did on railroad songs? Maybe around 68?
anybody ever heard of that or know if its available? Found out that night
that my dad was definitely NOT a JC fan... Kinda wierd how that sticks
with me almost 40 yrs. after the fact.

Thanks Drive on! Guess I missed the date some(more like 30 yrs. ago) seems
like it was on same time as "Wizard of Oz" but I could be wrong about that
too. The only thing for sure is the *** whippin part...

Ordered it today! better late than never...

  24. At least the Gibb brothers are respected in the music industry by many other musicians.

I hate it when a lifetime of composing and performing is negated by someone who couldn't even lamely humm along [via Kareoke[sp?] to one of their many million selling their records.
